New Report! Video Trends in the Staffing Industry

October 24, 2011 15 comments

If you are using or considering video as a staffing or recruiting company, Vipe is offering a free benchmarking report to help you set & manage expectations. We analyzed a sampling of 25K videos  to see how usage trends have changed over the past 3 years – and some results were surprising!

For example, did you know that if you remotely invited a candidate to record videos on their own, you could expect a 2.5 day turnaround in 2009, but in 2011 the average response time is less than 6.5 hours?!

The following topics were reviewed:vipe video cheat sheet - video trends in the staffingindustry

  • Video type (marketing videos vs. candidate videos)
  • Video source (uploaded files vs. webcam recordings)
  • Candidate video lengths
  • Number of video interview questions asked
  • Remote invite response time rate of candidate videos
  • Remote invite completion percentage for candidate videos

Vipe CEO Adam Peterson to Speak on Marketing, Video, and Social Media to the California Staffing Professionals

March 8, 2011 2 comments

Vipe CEO Adam Peterson will be presenting on Marketing, Video, and Social Media to the Silicon Valley Chapter of the California Staffing Professionals next Wednesday, March 16th in Mountain View.

Adam Peterson To Speak to the CSPFor more information and to register for the event, click here.

Unlike any other presentation I’ve given before on this topic, I will be questioning if a social media component of a marketing plan for small businesses makes sense. For small businesses, it is enough of a challenge to balance day-to-day sales with the longer-term marketing. Recognizing the commonality among all businesses is a limitation of resources – time and financing – how should a small business prioritize the available channels of marketing?

Should be a great event!

Truly Amazing – Video and Story of the Man with the Golden Voice

January 6, 2011 Leave a comment

This story brings tears to my eyes. Many of you are already some of the millions who have heard about this story, but for those who haven’t, read on.

Ted Williams - Homeless Man with Golden Voice

Ted Williams - Homeless Man with Golden Voice

Last month a videographer (Dorel Chenoweth III) from the Columbus Dispatch was driving down interstate 71 in Columbus and a homeless man, Ted Williams, caught his attention. Carrying a sign that began “I have a God given gift of voice” Dorel stopped to listen. Low and behold, Ted proved to have the perfect deep and resonate voice one would imagine on the radio.

Recording his interaction, which soon turned into an interview, Dorel put together a video that shortly became super viral on YouTube. The next thing you know, Ted (who was homeless as of 3 days ago) was on the Today show this morning and has apparently been offered several jobs ranging from an announcer on numerous radio shows to the announcer for the Cleveland Cavaliers!

Thomas Friedman wrote how technology was flattening the world for corporations. This rags to riches story proves that technology like video is also leveling the playing field for “sole proprietorships.” YouTube was founded in February of 2005. It’s amazing to think that a story like this would not have been possible just a few years ago. It took the worldwide adoption of video – from ease of creation to the norm that is watching online video on a daily basis – to allow such an wonderful, heartwarming story to happen. Simply amazing!

Vipe Mentioned by Kevin Wheeler on ERE.net

December 18, 2008 Leave a comment

Today Vipe was mentioned in a wonderfully thought out and well written article by Kevin Wheeler. The article, Video is About to Become King – Are You Ready? discusses Kevin’s vision for the space and also breaks down the different types of video currently existing in the industry into categories.

The first category he discusses, Branding and Positioning Promotion, mentions Vipe! Kevin’s quote is, “Still another in this expanding arena is Vipe, an organization that serves both the corporate marketing effort as well as the candidate.”

Thank you Kevin and all of you who have continued to support Vipe!

Vipe made it through Conference season

November 6, 2008 Leave a comment

So after traveling almost 4 weeks in a row, Vipe came back into town the end of October from a series of conferences. Starting October off with the California Staffing Professionals Owners Only Retreat up in Sonoma, the next stop was a detour in San Francisco to watch the Blue Angels during Fleet Week.

Next came a trip to the Los Angeles chapter of the CSP for an encore presentation of Adam’s Web 2.0 & Staffing talk. Last but definitely not least was a five day trip to San Diego for the highly marketed annual ASA event – Staffing World. I want to give a special thanks to KeenHire for our combined marketing efforts!

All stops proved not only fun but productive as well – the Vipe community of customers is continuing to expand as more and more companies are realizing the benefits of adding video to certain aspects of their sales and recruitment process!
